Gateshead Primary Care Mental Health / IAPT Service

People aged 16 years and above

Conditions supported: 

The service is delivered in line with NICE guidance around the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. This includes a range of disorders as identified by ICD10 classifications. Including:

  • Depression
  • Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Social and health anxiety
  • Body dysmorphic disorder
  • Panic with agoraphobia
  • Mild eating disorder except Anorexia Nervosa
  • Mixed anxiety and depression
  • Sleep disorder
  • obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post Traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Specific phobias
  • Unexplained medical conditions. 
Access: 

We accept self referrals as well as from other agencies. GP’s, primary care services etc.

Monday to Friday 9-5PM. Also out of hours Tuesday 5-7.30pm Blaydon Primary Care Centre and The Croft, Wrekenton Gateshead. 

Where: 

The full range of interventions are delivered in easily accessible community venues including GP surgeries, Primary Care Centres, Community Libraries, Children’s centre’s. Gateshead job centre, Gateshead voluntary council building. (GVOC), Gateshead college etc. Services are accessed through a single point of referral and following an initial assessment. All assessments can be carried out within 10 working days.
