Northumberland Primary Care Mental Health and IAPT Service (Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust – NTW)

Launched: 

Integration of IAPT within the Primary care mental health model from January 2010

For: 

Anyone living in Northumberland aged 16yrs and over who would like help with common psychological problems

Conditions supported: 
  • Depression
  • Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Social and health anxiety
  • Body dysmorphic disorder
  • Panic with agoraphobia
  • Mild eating disorder except Anorexia Nervosa
  • Mixed anxiety and depression
  • Sleep disorder
  • obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post Traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Specific phobias
  • Unexplained medical conditions.   
Access: 

Via GP, other professional or self-referral. Contact can be made by ringing, emailing or faxing the service directly. The service is available Monday to Friday 9-5PM (with some late appointments).

Where: 

Northumberland Primary Care Mental Health and IAPT Service provides triage/assessment over the telephone or face-to-face as required. This depends on the particular treatment, what is most appropriate, and the individual's preferences e.g. about where they wish to be to be seen. Face to face individual therapy, groups and workshops take place at a variety of NHS and community venues throughout Northumberland. The service is delivered by four cluster teams based across the County of Northumberland.
