Sunderland Primary Care and Wellbeing Service

For: 

Everyone living in the area aged 16 years and over.

The service is an integrated Primary Care Mental Health and Improving Access To Psychological Therapy Service (IAPT), delivered in partnership between Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Sunderland Counselling Service, Washington Mind and Sunderland Mind.

The service is for anyone experiencing common mental health problems (for example, anxiety or depression) across the city of Sunderland, plus Washington, Houghton, and Hetton.

As with all IAPT services, Sunderland Primary Care and Wellbeing Service is a free, confidential NHS service

Support for those with

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • stress
  • fears
  • bereavement
  • relationship difficulties

How to make an appointment?
Contact can be made with the service by referral by GP or by contacting the service direct.

The service is available

  • Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm
  • Friday 8am to 5pm
  • Saturday 8am to 1pm 
Where: 

Face to face counselling and therapy in GP surgeries and other venues in the community, including counselling through the teams at Washington Mind, Sunderland Mind, and the Sunderland Counselling Service.
